Learning English with Livemocha

Livemocha is a social networking group with over 4 million registered users. You can join for free and find people who are interested in language exchange or take one of the many courses on offer.
Some of the courses are free and I looked at the beginners course for learning Portuguese which is a series of pictures with voice overs and the words in your native language on the right of the screen.

Actually, I found the spoken words difficult to hear but that could be me. The pictures are of nice quality and it was fairly simple to follow but I admit, I never did find the 'next' button to press.
Personally I'm not a fan of reading loads of text, especially when its small text, for instructions; I don't have much patience. With that in mind, I found this a bit of a trial which is a shame because with a little tlc, changing the typeface and such, it could be so much more user friendly. For such a large site, it would be a good idea to include verbal, step by step instructions which for me, would have been useful.

I asked my daughter who is ten and has never listened to Portuguese previously, to have a look at the lessons.
She whipped through lessons one and two within half an hour and said she really enjoyed it and will carry on after watching Chicargo.
So, its probably me and my lack of youth which is the problem with Livemocha. User error; not the website itself!
