Getting it wrong in English

English is a beautiful language, varied and lovely. Foreign speakers are constantly amazed by the amount of sayings we have to describe everyday situations.

Our current Dutch student has his notepad and pen at the ready to scribe any little group of words down along with their meaning and an appropriate time to use them.

Getting it wrong in English though can be hilarious and looking at EnglishWhirledWide a facebook group yesterday was almost the highlight of my day.

I’ll give you some tasters, just to get you started:-

Drink your food, chew your water

Wong Fook Hing Book Store

Go Ahead and Drink Drive – Jail, Hospital, Morgue (signs)

Nose and Ears are poked here

mmmm….hot nuts in your mouth in 90 minutes

Well that’s just for starters, take a look at the many more available there plus some video’s.

Hi Will

Thanks for the comment - yes, Whirled Wide is a great site, I love some of the pictures on there (don't read them while drinking your coffee though)!

Cheers

Fiona
