About Us
Hello, we are Matt & Fiona Kitchen, husband & wife team and we have worked in the ESL industry since 2001 bringing large groups of foreign students from Europe, running language courses and placing individual students in one to one situations with host families.
More recently we have set up Xilfee. The purpose of www.xilfee.eu is to match teachers and students together, without the ‘middleman’ cost usually associated.
Many people ask how we came about the name!
The name Xilfee came about because our son is called Felix which means ‘lucky’ (think cats). So Felix was scrambled up and xilfe arrived. We added an e for good measure to round it off.
We hope you like it!
We understand the industry enough to know how difficult it can be for students to find good quality host families who really care about them, and language teachers who can offer good tuition.
We also understand how difficult it can be to find good host families who are willing to open their own home, provide care and understanding, nice accommodation and quality wholesome food.
As local organizers for various companies for several years, we know how expensive advertising can be and the difficulties of knowing where to advertise to get the best response.
We have brought all of this together and created www.xilfee.eu Anyone can register on our site (currently for free) and become a host family, find a host family, find foreign students to host, or advertise their own language school, large or small. We don’t mind.
The only thing we ask is that you treat us with respect, we have worked hard to get this far. We would like you to find work from our site but you need to work with us. Please be polite to us. We are human and get hurt too when people are rude! (It rarely happens thankfully).
If you do offend us badly enough, we will remove your profile!
To improve your chances of finding students, you can begin by regularly logging in to your profile and this will bring you to the top of the searches each and every time.
Secondly, improve the look and feel of your profile;
You can do this in several ways; to begin with, make sure you fill in all of the text boxes with interesting details about you or your family or your language school. Check your text for spelling mistakes and grammatical errors.
Send to us some nice, clear, good quality photographs of you, your family, your accommodation and places which will probably be of interest to visit, for your student.
Make a short video of you and your family speaking to your (potential) students.
Remember, these are foreign students. They will first look at the pictures, and then if they like what they see, they will attempt to read the text.
If you display a video, students will remain longer in your profile, and be more likely to visit it again.
If your profile is complete and you have added photographs, we may ask you if you wish to complete a case study which will further highlight your profile. And it’s a bit of fun too! (See the homepage for more details).
Foreign students, who want to find a host family, can also register and contact a family through the site or wait to be contacted by a host family, teacher or language school.
So you have nothing to lose, (& lots to gain) why not return to the home page and begin to build your profile!
